Just passing through... We had a week in Malaysia back in 2007, spending two days in KL before few nights at the iconic Datai hotel on Langhawi. KL is one of those capitals which has very little going for it, from a tourist point of view. It's very modern, clean, commercial and, frankly, very boring!
We are only here for 10 hours, hubbing though Air Asia to overnight in to Melbourne. The idea is to dump the bags, go up the Petronas Towers, which were shut last time we visited and grab an early dinner. Slight problem, we meander up to buy our tickets and its sold out for the day! A reflection of our lack of foresight and confirmation that there's b***** all else to do in KL!
After Cambodia, it is more humid, still bearable, a lot more expensive, in a hurry, very commercial, great infrastructure, lots of new building and no one is smiling!
Air Asia are no frills airline but, on overnight flights, they have seats that go to beds. These are about $75 but you have to pay $5 to join an allocation lottery! An interesting money making weaze, given they can take $5 way beyond the capacity of seats, have a word! Apart from that, the bus back to the airport broke down! Get me out of here!!
Melbourne is like my home town in Australia! My Uncle Harry (my Dad's elder brother)and Auntie Kate, now in their sprightly 80's, set up the Parsons masthead about 40 years ago, they have 4 children who have had 6 grandchildren, who've had 1 great grandchild, so, we are 13 in total! I've visited many times and couldn't be in this part of the world without popping in!
Aligned to this we have Angelka's quest to see all 4 tennis Grand Slams, with this being the last! Read on......
