Resending Blog - apologies to all...it appears that most of the blog got lost the first time!
Thanks for reading! X g
We have no complaints about the winter of 2019, having spent it as Canadian Snowbirds in Florida. For the 9th consecutive year, we’ve been fortunate enough to miss the blizzards and frigid temperatures of a Canadian winter, by heading south to spend our days enjoying mild weather and frequently hot temperatures. With little material to “blog,” we spend the laziest of times there - with no apologies or regrets! We could brag that we walk a lot, but that’s really not difficult when the sun is shining, and the ocean is only steps away! We encourage anyone to join us if - and when they can - our family and friends are always welcome at “our” Beach Cottage....we love to share our winter home with them.
During the winter we spent some time discussing how and where to spend our 50th wedding anniversary - deciding on the island of Malta, plus a short trip to England, in order to spend time with family - especially Glyn & Marjie - who always make us so welcome....and.....there is Trevor’s mum, who is now 105! As always we’re thankful to be able to spend time with her.
We left Ottawa on a lovely warm day - driving to Toronto - and the “joy” of (Toronto)Pearson airport - to catch our overnight flight to Manchester, England - where we landed mid-morning to damp, drizzly cool temperatures. A train journey took us across the Pennines, where the scenery is always stunning, whatever the weather..... luckily the sun did make a brief appearance to shine down on this beautiful area.
After a short afternoon catching up with our family, and an early dinner of fish, chips and mushy peas from the local “chippy” (thank you, Glyn), it was time for an early bedtime - jet lag and almost 30 hours of being awake had taken its toll!
The next few days it continued to pour with rain, which had us wondering if we’d really left the local floods in Ottawa
