Right ....where was I....?? Oh yeah.. the bus ride to Hoi An!!!! We caught the bus at 4 in the afternoon and it seemed ok .We would be travelling through the night and the seats reclined reasonably. It wasnt the luxury bus I expected but hey ho...The journey was to take us through some of the most stunning scenery I have ever seen in my life....sadly it began to rain....we drove down a very dodgy mountain road in the fog..it got dark very early and I missed most of the views. After 2 hours they pulled over for a pee stop.I was fine but everyone got off and stood or squatted .BTW we were the only non locals on the bus.The conductor was very sweet and translated bits for us.He distributed a wet wipe and a bottle of water to all of us ...and a green plastic bag to everyone except us.This was the sick/gob/hacking/greeny bag and they used it constantly.Sadly they left the door open while they were peeing and every mozzy and his buddy flew straight on the bus.Oh well once the doors were shut and the Karaoke tv started up again they all appeared to fly to the screen. After another couple of hours we stopped for tea.Blob ate and I stuck to biscuits ....I still didnt feel 100 % and we still had 10 hours left on the bus. When they opened the bus door for us all to get back on I made the mistake of looking at the floor ...it was crawling and infested with roaches and flying ants....DEEP JOY only 10 hours to goAND I HAVE MY SANDALS ON. Once the engine started up Blob said they would disappear and sure enough they did...NOT !!! They were running up the window.......I refuse to talk about this anymore...needless to say I didnt sleep and for at least 2 hours Blob and I had both our bum cheeks on his seat!!! He was quite proud of me....what was the alternative ??? there wasnt one...and so ended the worst bus journey EVER!!
So we arrived at the bus station in Danang and got thrown onto the local bus which would take us into Hoi An.Met a tour guide called Ten who walked us to our hotel. There was an international choir festival on in Hoi an and so it was really hard to find accomodation and we ended up paying a lot more for our accomodation than we normally would. It was a large hotel but extremely friendly and helpful .It had a pool but we didnt get the chance to use it .We stayed at the An phu for 3 nights (they did the most fab buffet breakfast) and then we moved over to the newer side of town and found a very sweet family run hotel.Very friendly and helpful and much closer to the centre.
Ok I need brekkie...back soon x
