We got on the boat to hop over to Gili Meno this morning and had the usual response when handing over a ticket, a look of confusion, followed by two trips to the ticket office. It amazes me how the they always look at these tickets like they've never seen them before, there is only about 5 travel agents on the island it cant be the first time they've seen one of these tickets! Mind you Tuk Tuk drivers are the same, despite most of the places we havw travelled to only having about 20 hotels they always struggle to find ours. Anyway, I digress, we arrived on the boat in Gili Meno at 10am and walked around to find somewhere to stay, we found some little bungalows about 2 mins from the beach and settled in. By settling in a mean that I threw everything on the floor and started changing into my bikini. Mud way through changing the owner started walking up to the bungalow (which had huge glass doors) with some welcome drinks, which would have been lovely, if I had clothes on, I made a quick dash to hide in the bathroom only the door was jammed and i couldnt open it! Robin went outside to intercept the drinks although I fear it was a bit late (this happened again in Gili T when a guy came to give us a mosquito coil!).
We headed out for a walk along the beach and decided to have a drink on one of the raised platforms on the beach, which was good timing as it started pouring with rain. We sat and watched the rain across the water and i read my book for a while, then we pretty much walked another 10 minutes and repeated the process!
We headed back to the room for a nap and after dozing for a while I realised I had a huge flying ant crawling across my leg. I did the girly scream and flap to get it off, 2 mins later I had another one. I decided to get up and have a wash, I walked into the bathroom as a geko ran past my head, more screaming and flapping ensued (I'm not scared of either of these things by the way, it's just the whole creepy crawly thing). I then went to use the sink which was outside (obviously) and saw loads of huge flying ants crawling by the door, cue more flapping and general whining about how much I hate nature.
After my traumatic time in the room we decided to head out to get me drunk. Robin had a long chat to one of the locals, who told him they don't like tourists on Gili Meno! After we headed back I had a traumatic night of not sleeping as I was scared of the bugs (meaning robin didn't sleep either!).
The next morning we headed back to Gili T, yay!
