Timmy's Travels
Hi Everyone, well I've got some time to kill before I head off to Alcatraz so thought would write something here.
Not managed to upload any photos of my own yet, bit scared the hostel staff will flip if I come anywhere near the computer with the USB cable from my camera so think will leave it until I can ask!!
Wll San Francisco is everything I imagined it to be and MORE, really this place is fantastic, well when compared to the UK it is, hahahaha
Had some fun few days so far, the flight was ok, and just chilled the first night, met my "roomies" 2 guys from Nevada and 1 guy from Russia - Russia guy was quite scary and political but he left the next day so not to worried about that. The new guy is called Chu/Chew not sure if he means as in Bacca but he sleeps on the floor, wants the windows wide open and told the rest of us off last night for talking! The 2 guys from Nevada leve today so god knows who I'm gonna end up sharing with for the rest of my stay!!
As for sightseeing, well I'm still exhausted from yesterday. Walked so much, up the hills, down the hills, back up the hills, all around the Bay, the parks etc, everywhere I could walk I think i did, but I saw some fantastic things!!
Bay Bridge - Not to be confused with the Golden Gate Bridge, is amazing, its longer than the GG and its a grey colour but its HUGE, its the 2 layered one with traffic going both ways on it, not got round to seeing the GG bridge yet due to the Fog so will be able to compare them once I see them both.
Cable Cars - Expensive but worth it, traditional SF mode of transport, when it goes down some of the hills you actually feel quite scared!!!
Pier 39/F.Wharf - Main Tourist area bit, don't get me wrong its very lovely and the views across the Bay and out towards Alcatraz and the mainland are beautiful but its a bit too tacky, quite loud and brash and very tourist orientated which doesn't really sit that well with the rest of SF.
The Architecture - The buidlings here are AMAZING, from the Trans-America Pyramid to the old victorian style houses, to the modern De Young Museum to the gorgeously ostentatious City Hall, the buildings all seem to fit into each other here despite the age differences.
I could go on and on and on and ariston about how wonderful SF is but you cant understand until you've actually been here, its beautiful beyond belief!!
As Rudyard Kipling (Author of Jungle Book - NOT Cake Maker) said "The Only Problem with San Francisco is Leaving It!!"
