So we've spent most of September settling into Raglan, sampling the local cuisine, exploring the local area and sorting out our home (check out the 'home patch' album). We tried the local takeaway this weekend; an Asian (Indian, Chinese and Thai in one!!). Tim's highlight was the cremated onion rings which were sold as onion bhaji and the accompanying bags of unknown 'sauces', one of which was definitely mint jelly!!
As we work Monday to Friday, we've spent weekends sorting out our garden and now as a result we have our very on compost heap, herb garden and little veggie patch. And after nearly 3 weeks, Tim finally got the weed cutter (strimmer) started.
We went to Auckland to watch Ireland v Aussie in an Irish pub with a guy who has lost a few internal organs following a trip to South America; the resulting hangover made Tim ill for the following week. We thought we had tickets to see Ireland v Russia but computer said no! The country and all inhabitants are world cup crazy, it's literally the only topic of conversation!
This weekend we took a drive to see some Kiwi birds and stumbled upon a few natural wonders along the way (as you do here in NZ!); a natural bridge, waterfall and a cave - check out the album. The bird sanctuary itself was kinda scary as birds were coming at us left, right and centre! They had two Kiwi's in a nocturnal enclosure (as they only come out at night) which we're very cool, prancing around like a couple of elves!
We're currently planning a long weekend trip away to the Coromandel Peninsula, but we first need to adapt the Space Wagon for camper-vanning!! Daylight saving's have arrived so summer a coming; Watch this space....
