Tim, Chris and Edd´s And James's Long Ol' Adventur
After just 2 and half hours sleep, my friend Mr Gillen decided to wake me up by throwing a full bottle of water on my stomach. I was not impressed. SO Chris and I stumbled too breakfast whilst the refreshed patient bounded his way up. We missed the bus for the 10 o'clock favela tour we rushed about to find a taxi to take us to corcovado (the christ statue). It was amazing, the views were stunning, even if the saweltering heat and bright lights combined in unison to make my head want to explode and stomach scream.
We got back from this and ran to the hotel where we had to get the minibus for our favela tour. The tour itself was amazing, a real insight into the favelas and the huge contrast between rich and poor literally just metres away. Outside the entrance to the Rocinha Favela was the most expensive privcate school in rio. It cost 1,000 a month. Within the favelas we felt so safe as eachg favela is run by the drug lord and therefore as tourists we felt safe because they dont want to attract anymore negative publicity, or attract attention from police due to the huge drugs syndicate that exists. So we were able to leave our bags and wallets in full view with noone taking a second look.
In the evening we went to the Lapa street party. We went expecting a lively atmosphere with loads of music. But due to the shooting the week before there were just lots of people standing about. Nothing very special.
