Our final day in Vic Falls we decided to go exploring. Ben joined us once again as we hunted "The Big Tree" which turned out to be a huge baobab. We gave it a hug before meandering off down the road to find ourselves alongside the Zambezi just up from where the water falls. Stunning and peaceful without crowds. Having dipped our feet in the racing waters and appreciated this natural beauty we wandered towards town. Here Vikki left to get her hair washed and spend a quiet afternoon being pampered.
Tessa & Ben continued exploring. First was going to see the gorge which the Zambezi flows though once the water has fallen at Vic Falls. Then onto the Victoria Bridge. This is the "no man's land" between Zimbabwe & Zambia. To go onto the bridge requires exiting Zimbabwe with your passport, they give you a little piece of paper that allows you back in once you've done your touristy things. Tessa & Ben wandered along a road next to the railway track to see what could be seen and discovered an elephant on the other side of the track having a meal. Once on the bridge they could see where people do bungy jumps, bridge swings and bridge zip lines. They could also see where the falls sweep down to come under the bridge. A stunning day.
In the evening we decided to seek out a local Thai restaurant where we had a thoroughly delicious meal. It was nice to choose a cuisine and what we wanted from a menu. Both of us, whilst here, have acknowledged that we miss the opportunity to eat the food of our choice and know that it will be beautifully presented when served to us. And this was something neither of us had thought we would miss before we left. The food we have eaten on the truck is fantastic - we have had some truly delicious meals. However, the pleasure of having your food prepared individually for you and delivered to your table is no longer under-rated.
