Wow! We had a wonderful time with our first experience of this "natural wonder of the world"!
First we wandered into town to find breakfast - we went to a cafe recommended by the lonely planet - fantastic food, good coffee and friendly service! We were nicely relaxed when we realised we had keys to truck things people may want to access so hightailed it back to camp.
Whilst there we collected Ben, who arrived yesterday and is going through to Cape Town, and went geo-caching. First was one in a nature reserve to the west of our campsite ... I saw my first snake of the journey & froze in petrifaction. It took lots of courage to go off the road and into the bush. I watched Tessa & Ben scrambling around for quite some time. But to no avail. Off we marched to have lunch back at our all time favourite cafe. Crocodile tastes a little like chicken with sweet chili sauce.
And to round off our day we walked to the Victoria Falls entrance, paid our $30 entry & went to stand in awe at the immense amount of water flowing here. We took a quick detour to hunt for another geo-cache, again to no avail despite Ben climbing the favoured tree. We followed the path along the gorge, getting thoroughly drenched by the spray. We arrived at the place known as "danger point" where we spent time sitting in the sun allowing the wind to begin the drying process. It was a truly awe-inspiring time as we watched the water thunder down and rainbows arc across the spray that creates a mini "rain" forest along the edge of the gorge! One of our top highlights thus far :-)
Our evening was rounded out back at the campsite where a local male dance troop performed for us - love acupella :-)
