A day that was largely about driving with a 2 hour stop at a shopping mall. We arrived in Entebbe about 1530 hours and once we'd got ourselves set up decided to go and find the shore of Lake Victoria for the first time in this trip. This is the second largest lake in the world and we only saw a tiny part of it. We will spend some days driving south of it through Tanzania on our way to Zanzibar in about 9 days time. Today, to find the lake shore, we had quite a walk to take as the frontage is all "private property". En route we passed a church where a service or classes were happening outside under a tree - we were a mild distraction as people turned around to wave at the "foreigners out for a walk". Ultimately we ended up going into a large hotel and making our way through to the garden bar for a drink so that we could walk down to the edge of the Lake. We enjoyed a pleasant shandy and a chat with the 4 other women who had joined us in our gallivanting.
And we now have 20 people on the truck - having picked up an Italian woman who is staying for only one week to visit the gorillas, a Croatian couple who are with us for two weeks through to Arusha and two women from London who are staying with us through to Zanzibar. Group dynamics are fascinating as we are in a constant state of forming & storming with small steps towards norming before it all changes again. Tessa & I spend much of our time observing the shenanigans rather than allowing ourselves to be drawn into them. In 2-3 days we get 5 more people ... it is all part of the experience :-)
