I was awake at 03:30AM because the wind and waves were rattling the building and making a huge roaring noise. Getting a little frustrating and starting to think I pulled the short straw in fact with the front room. I had to put my headphones in to try and drown the sound out.
We had pick up at 6AM and again on time, love africa time! Jim reassured me that she had a terrible night sleep with the wind and the trees swell out the back of the building.
Only a 20 minute drive down to the bottom of the island Kamakazi or something it was called I think, not great with these names! It was so very quiet, not a tourist in sight which was unbelievable, I was half expecting a bus load of chinese tourists, they get in where the damp gets in but then again the majority of them are locked up in China currently. That is probably why the prices of everything are through the roof.
We got in a mini Mr.Bean boat again with two strange men, again cant remember their names but they seemed out, we were bouncing out onto these humungous waves, the sunrise was spectacular, the wind was cold and I was feeling more and more sceptical about seeing wild dolphins, only a pod of 3 or 4 but it was magical… to watch from the boat until you found a tonne of other little petrol powered boats with tourists on, snorkels on to try and jump in next to them before they swam past us. It was alright but nothing tops New Zealand I guess! The one dolphin had caught an octopus and had it hanging out of his mouth which was pretty cool and he swam very close to me a few times. I guess we were the lucky boat as there was only two of us on it as opposed to the others with 5 or 6 on it so it took longer for them to get out of the water and back into the boat.
Happy Chappy's we went back to the hotel and chilled pretty much all day, a few power outages but nothing a tanzanian beer and a battery powered JBL speaker wouldn't fix. My tan was coming along very very nicely! I was starting to look like the locals haha.
Tonight (later this afternoon) we were heading over to the Rock Restaurant, looking forward to going here, Ross had some nice photos of walking across the beach to the restaurant as when he went the tide was out. When we arrived this was not the case. In fact the wind had picked up and and the waves were VERY large to the point that the little boat that was on a string being pulled back and forth the shore and the restaurant on the rock was only able to take minimum numbers to avoid us getting VERY wet or even better falling out. I did not want this (well no one did) but I also had a lovely box of champagne for the eve of my twenties to see out.
We managed it, in between a few photos which actually came out well, pays to come away with someone who loves a pose and photo haha they know the angles.
Ready for dinner, we had our champagne and I had the lobster (sounds pricey but nothing is that pricey in Tanzania and given that the little fella probably was picked up off the rock this morning.
A lovely evening to see out the decade of TWENTIES! Tomorrow is the first day of the THIRTIES…. Wtf.
