Sunday 17 August
Neil arranged to go flying from Sherburn Aero Club, with our friend Bill Munro, today. So we arrived at Sherburn at 5.30pm as we had been watching the weather all day and by this time the weather had cleared sufficiently to get an hour's flying in. We took off in a southerly direction and climbed to 3,500 ft and had great panoramic views of West Yorkshire. Neil had a go at the controls and negotiated left and right turns which involved slightly different techniques to helicopter flying which he had been used to. An hour's flying soon went by in what seemed like twenty minutes and Bill took over the controls for the final approach and landing back at Sherburn Aerodrome. Neil really enjoyed the flight and then it was back to Bill and Carol's for dinner after which we didn't say goodbye, but, "until the next time"!
