This morning we departed way to early having regard to last nights activities, leaving the hostel at 8:00am (although this was somewhat delayed by the fact that Matt had to jump start the bus with the neighbour's car). Today was intended for exploring Cape Breton Island and the Cabot Trail so the main activity for the day was our hour long hike along the Skyline Trail at Cape Breton Highlands National Park. The trail involves walking along the ridgeline of French Mountain to the headland to look over the Gulf of St Lawrence. We saw whales from the headland and we also got to see a moose - i was very excited! After the hike we dropped most of the group of at Pleasant Bay for whale watching, while the rest of us went to MacIntosh Brook for lunch and a short walk to the waterfall and had lunch and also pick up Aussie Mick to join our group. That afternoom we went to Black Brook Beach were I took full advantage of the afternoon sun and had a snooze on the beach.

On our way home we stopped for ice cream of which I managed to score on for free as I guess correctly what the three numbers - 2, 89, 99 - stood for on the hostel room doors - they are the jersey numbers of famous Canadian hockey players. We also had a quick bottlo stop were for some reason I agreed to go in on frangalico shots!

That evening we lost 4 members of our group - Chris, Anna, Katrina & Kristin for hoped of to go to Newfoundland (v. jelous!). Back at the hostel we had a ripper BBQ and then after several shots we turned the living room into a dance floor with touches strapped to the fans to add for extra effect. After all the dancing wore of the effect of the booze we headed back out to the bonfire with the simple intention of filling up the other half of the picnic tables with empty beer bottles.
