Well, we headed for Monte Alban, but opps---- missed the sign. You have to go a very long
way to be able to turn around, so being the flexible type and not letting anything spoil our
day out. We just kept on going to a town called El Tule!! Really cool town.
It has wonderful shops to look around at.
Roy bought Mescal. Legal here. Made from agave
pineapple. They cut off the root. Cut off the long sharp limbs. Then put them on coals covered
up and steam them. Not sure where they go from there but it is a legitimate job here and Mescal
is sold everywhere. The cost ranges from very cheap to WOW expensive.
Now the tree----is incredible!! It is huge. It is world known, the biggest tree in the world. Not as tall as the Redwoods or Sequoias , but massive.
There is a postcard they sell and it has 5 men, holding hands and arms stretched out and it does
not even begin to go 1/4 a way around the base of the tree.
This is an information picture you can get an idea about the tree. It is over 2000 years old. They
took a core sample and it is all one tree. Some thought it was a group of trees that had grown
together to form one------but no , it is just one tree.
We got home about 5 min before the heavens opened up. Huge black clouds. From the hurricane. We are in no danger, but man did it rain. It has slowed now about 3 hours later,
but I think its going to be an all nighter. They have been having more rain than normal, this year
lots of hills sliding down and lots of flooded streets.
