We had to check out of hotel by 11 am, but wanted to catch what they call " Hop On Hop Off "
bus at 9am
It is a tour bus that goes around the huge city and tells you about the most interesting sites.
you can get off anytime stay as long as you want sighting then catch the next bus that comes
along and go to next site.
We stored our packs in the train station "left luggage" and off we went.
we decided to go one whole loop and see everything then on the next round we could get off and
sightsee at the places we were interested in.
when we first-came into Kuala Lumpur , we were not to sure this was such a good idea.
But as we have found out with most things, it's the unknown that is a bit spooky.
Kuala Lumpur is a massively huge concrete jungle.
there are skyscrapers everywhere and construction on more everywhere.
there are so many places that I am sure the sun only reaches for a few minutes each day.
it is so very different from Bangkok . It is a newer city so is laid out in an orderly manner.
Bangkok is a city that has been there for centuries . So the roads have kinda been put where
needed and big enough for carts and people , not knowing that autos would someday rule the
roads.
Kuala Lumpur grows on you.
There is a lot of night life in this city for those that enjoy it.
The tour bus trip takes about 2 1/2. - 3 hours round trip.
there are 23 stops along the way.
we really enjoyed this day .
stopped at several of the sites and got lots of pictures.
We got back to KL Sentral. Had some dinner then still had about 6 hours
till train time, so went on the bus again just to let them drive us around.
The bus tour tickets are good for 24 hour so we really made use of it.
When we rode the train in Thailand we got second class sleeper tickets and really enjoyed our
trip.
they did not have sleeper train tickets. Available in kuala Lumpir, for two more days, so we figured
we'd do okay with
2nd class seat tickets , just lay them back and sleep the whole way!
Nope!
Miserable!
These seats are made for 4 ft nothing people.
There is no room for long legs. The seats will only recline about 4 inches , so you can't lay
back very far .
and they love there air conditioning.
Thankfully I knew about the cold and bought a shawl.
but the trip was like riding on an apple box in a meat cooler!
For 8-9 hours as this is an overnight trip!
got to Georgetown foggy headed , no sleep, red eyes 5:30 am
still dark, exhausted, no idea where a hotel is that we can book into.
computer is dead from taking all the pictures. So can not bring up map.
You get into Butterworth Penang get off train then catch a ferry to
Georgetown. From there you catch a bus to town.
we told the bus driver where we wanted to go.
He takes us to town and stops and tells 5 of us it's our stop, so off we get.
he takes off.
Great it's still dark and we don't see Kimberly street any where!
We we all decide to go find a 7/11 and have a cup of coffe and wait till daylight.
Finally found the hotel, checked in ,had a nap,,,,,,,life is so good!
we are just bumming around tonight will check things out starting tomorrow.
