Day 12 - Wangaratta to Canberra (about 400kms)
Today was a travel day. The kids slept til almost 8am, so it was a leisurely start to the day. After finding coffee and hot chocolates in Wangaratta it was back onto the Hume Highway.
We stopped to stretch our legs briefly in Tarcutta and stopped at Gundagai for lunch (a place we had overnighted on he first day of our trip).
We drove into Canberra mid afternoon, found our accommodation and picked up a brochure to plan our activities over the coming days.
We also headed off to the shops. While we were unpacking the kids had lost their tennis ball over a fence and a replacement was in order to maintain some peace (and handball activity). Also, Ms4 had left her two soft toys (a bilby from Charleville that she's brought with her, and a penguin from Phillip Island purchased on this trip) at our friends in outer Melbourne. Thankfully they have been found and will be generously mailed home, however the shopping trip needed to also acquire a soft toy to make sure the bedtime routine didn't go pear shaped. Fortunately we found an Easter clearance table and she now has a purple bunny keeping her cosy (and asleep).
So - not much really today except covering a few miles, and finding ourselves in the nation's capital for the next few (also last few) days of our trip.
