A glorious day....no rain!
Drove through rolling the open pasture land of Southern Bavaria to the fantasy castle built by the Wagner mad king of Bavaria; Ludvig II. The cover picture is from the ramparts of Neuschwanstein. Yes...that one from Chitty Bang Bang. Needed to book our timed ticket 3 hours in advance which gave us time to look in cookoo clock shops and have a lakeside picnic before William gave us some demonstration rowing on the lake in the picture (his stroke rate was apparently not his fastest, but enough for speedy tour of lake). The castle was interesting, beautiful, crowded, awesome and bonkers all at the same time.
On the way home, had supper in a non touristy restaurant. Three local men decided to introduce me German wheat beer. Kept buying me free ones and telling jokes and showing funny Scottish U Tube clips to us all that they had found - 'FREE SCOTlAND!' was there frequent refrain. I needed saving so by the time they were telling me they only like visiting France on 'tracks' (ie tanks!), we took our leave. I was more giggly than useful later in the evening as we got the boys ready for scout camp.
