So it's the third day into the trip and I cant believe we have arrived into Prague already, feels like I have been away from home for so much longer! The first day away from London we took the ferry across the channel to Calais and then bused it to Bruges, Belgium. Bruges is an absolutely beautiful city, the buildings are so pretty and people travel on bikes everywhere! We spent the afternoon doing a bike tour acround the main sites, which was lots of fun! We got to bike around the main town square with all the locals, around the city walls which is actually a moat filled with water from when the Germans invaded Belgium in the war, and visited the oldest pub with a free beer of course! Also when in Bruges you have to indulge in a Belgian chocolate or two :-] That night a few of us went out and partied our socks off in one of the local bars.
After waking up with my first hangover of the trip we then travelled for about 8 hours to a small town called St. Goar in Germany. On the way we looked round the Marksburg Castle, overlooking the Rhine River....would have been a lot more fun if we could have actually understood the German speaking guide! We did have a little guide in English though so was okay. After spending an hour or so there we then headed to our hostel with Herman the German!!!! The guy who owned the hostel was crazy, and I mean crazy! He appeared after dinner wearing a scary mask (which funnily enough looked similar to his own face!) and tried scaring the hell out of all us girls! He then turned the music up from over 10 years ago and we spent the evening dancing and chatting along to Take That and The Spice Girls...lots of fun!
This morning we had our first long drive to Prague, over 9 hours and slept pretty much all the way. Tomorrow we shall explore the city before heading off to Vienna, Austria on Thursday..............
