The Wandering Rupa
Had to leave the KL photo where it is again as I still can't upload my photos - sorreee.
In Cameron Highlands now, staying in an old monastary. I've decided to stay an extra couple of nights since this place has been like a retreat for me it's so beautiful and peaceful. My next journal entry is an e-mail I got from a great girl I met in KL. She recommended this hostel to me and her description of the place is as good as anyone can describe it - Bobby if you get to read this I hope that you'll be pleased that your literary works have been published on the information super-highway. Thanks for recommending the place, I've got so much from being here. xx
I'm in an 8-bed dorm with an elderly Japanese man, a harmonica-playing French-Canadian bloke, a guitar-playing American lad - I don't need to go-on. There's a really colourful bunch here and I've had great chats with all of them in the last few days. So far I've been on nature walks, more jungle treks, I've visited a tea planation and had a tour of the factory. I've ambled about in the peace and quiet, I've had a drunken sing-along whilst watching a distant lightning storm - very cheesy I know but it was fun all the same.
I've met a lovely couple from Belgium and we've been out and about and gone for meals and lazed around. Today I went for lunch with Francois, the French-Canadian guy in my dorm and we talked eachothers socks down about everything from missing cheese and marmite sandwiches (that was me - how profound I am) to the meaning of life (we were both responsible for that one).
I'm off to Penang in the morning but I'm not sure how ling I'll stay. I've heard mixed reviews about it from people I've met and I think that it would be nice to stop over there for one night and then have a longer stay in Lankawi - I'm starting to feel like a yo-yo!
Any-ho. Speak to you all soon, love you lots xx
