After an eventful journey we eventually made it to Surin Beach, which was evidently not equipped for backpackers. It proved a little difficult to find accommodation that was within our budget, but we managed to find something suitable which included a baby bed for baby Brown. Catch up cocktails on the beach and much to our delight the beach was stunning, an all encompassing bay, white sand and barrel top surf. The following day we caught some rays and had relaxing beach day, who needs a surf board when u have the energy of a small luminous anchovy! All the rest in the world was unable to prepare us for the somewhat unexpectedly epic journey that lay ahead. Perched on the roadside for over an hour we eventually gave up on the local bus service and jumped in a taxi to the main road, jumped ungraciously on the side of the highway we meandered our way to what looked like a attempted construction of a bus stop. 30mins later we we on board and on route. When arriving at said Phuket Bus Station our bad luck continued, we'd missed the last bus to Patong and an expensive taxi was our only option. A change of luck for 3 but the continued curse for the other one saw Lucas' bag on the wrong flight and a lengthily wait in stall for the intrepid traveller, one cancelled flight and a lost bag he was off to a good start! 50p later we were in Phucket Town, the home off our second rendezvous, alas the ping pong shows of Patong would have to wait until tomorrow.
Eager beavers Emily and Abi set off for Patong bright and early leaving Martin and Lucas to recover from there elongated and extravagant catch up which involved slightly more than a few Changs! Hello changeover and the newly coined Chang Hole! Nothing could quite prepare Lucas and Abi for what Patong had to offer, welcome to the underbelly, the cauldron, the stuff storeys were made off…welcome to the deep end of the pool, jump in!
