Despite being 'on the way home' the adventures haven't stopped and we are still enjoying some lovely weather!
We went and checked out the Pinnacles yesterday and I was astounded at how far these geological wonders stretch!!! Geologists are yet to work out exactly how these formed with numerous theories, however I do like the Aboriginal Dreamtime story that warned young men not to venture out to this area as the sands would swallow them - the proof was provided in the form of the pinnacles that were said to be the fingers of their ancestors reaching out of the sands.
The boys tried their luck with some more fishing and although the 'blowies' were again out in force, Wil did manage to catch a Wrasse which was a keeper. Wil then gutted and filleted it on his own and enjoyed it as a side dish with hamburgers.
Meals whilst travelling have been pretty good and I certainly don't think we've been missing out. Some of the meals we've enjoyed have included roast beef and roast pork, fish, chow mien, steak & veg, pastas, Thai curry, steak & kidney pie (baked in the weber q) stir fry's, tacos, hot dogs, the odd sausages & veg, chicken schnitzel burgers, prawns etc.
Lunches vary dependant on if and how far we are travelling and can be cup of soups & crackers, flavoured tuna on biscuits or sandwiches if the day allows.
Today we left Cervantes and headed towards Perth where we hope to get Anthony's car serviced in the next day or so. We have setup camp in Midlands as there is an Isuzu dealership quite close by who we hope will be able to fit us in - if not, there are s total of 5 dealerships within 30ish kms so surely one of them could do so.
Given that we have already travelled close to 11000 kms, Suzy definitely needs a spa day - unfortunately Mal will have to wait a little longer, but given that our girl has done most of the work (such is the life of a female on the road hahaha) Mal will have to wait.
With Wil now quite content in his swag and James adamant that he wants a tent of his own, we have decided that after we give him a good spruce up on our return, Mal will be on the hunt for a new family to love him and Anthony and I will start looking for a new van that suits what we want without the need to accomodate us all. That being said if your family is looking for a great van (he hasn't missed a beat!) Mal could be yours once we return!
on our way down towards Perth today we took a turn off to a small coastal town called Lancellin - truly a hidden gem and we are SO GLAD we did!!! I think someone above must of guided us there as not only did we discover a brilliant bakery AND a Bendigo Bank ATM, we also had the chance to get up close and personal with MASSIVE sand dunes in which the boys had the opportunity to Sand Board!!!! WOW WOW WOW! Just brilliant! Both enjoyed immensely - will upload some pics here also but have already shared some on Facebook & Instagram for those who follow me there. We also had the chance to watch some guys on motorbikes grab air - have taken some pics of this also and will certainly share these when we get hm.
After checking in to the caravan park this afternoon we headed down to Fremantle and took in the markets and some other sights and we definitely plan to head back for another day to check out the historical aspects further.
Such a beautiful, multi cultural place!!!! We treated ourselves and picked up some Turkish pastries, some sweet potatoe chips, sandalwood nuts, flavoured salamis and also came across the most wonderful grocers that stocked the best range of European goodies ever including cheeses and meats.
Can't believe we are on the home run - this time in 3 weeks we will be getting ready to head back to school and work!!!
Love to all - please stay safe xxxx
