well here we are in Slovakia. we were sorry to leave budapest but we are running out of time and have to keep moving. the 'posh backpackers' that we are, decided to splash out and sail the danube to bratislava instead of taking the train. immediately after docking we wished we had continued the journey to vienna. it is not the most picturesque of locations and didn't think we would've wished we were back in bosnia so quickly. lol! had slight difficulty in finding the hostel, although lynne excelled herself with her map reading. (just for the record she's got plenty of "*******" savvy!) met erin and laura, (canadian sisters) and jason from australia. we were so pleased to find jean pierre had managed to book into the same hostel. it was so nice to see a friendly familiar face. we headed to the highly recommended 'slovak pub' which appeared to be the 'in' place for romantic dates. we were surrounded by smooching couples at candlelit tables. not having smooching partners ourselves, the 6 of us didn't quite fit in, so in true backpacking style we demolished our one meal of the day and enjoyed the local pivo. DATE 1 seemed to be going well, DATE 2 needed a room, DATE 3 was make-or-break, while DATE 4 would have had better use of our 'lezzer' room in Split- (see photo album). it's so much fun to 'people watch'. we headed to tesco to stock up on pivo and food before heading back to hostel for a wee party. the beer, chat and laughter was flowing so well we decided not to venture out and mingle with the locals and the lager-louted stag parties. (anyone know anyone from Killie getting married?) our time here in bratislava has been short so haven't done any sight seeing- if there actually is any!? haha! once again we have met lovely people and are looking forward to heading to poland. off to catch our train now. catch up with you in Krakow.
