Ni Hao!
We finally made it to Beijing...
I was panicking in case my bag wasn't going to make it cos I met Robbie Gallacher at Edinburgh airport. Anyone who knows Robbie will understand why I was panicking! He works for BA and thought he was trying to help by checking my bag straight through to Beijing via World Alliance. He took my flight confirmations , plugged stuff into a computer, took my bad and told me I was checked through to Hong Kong. I said 'Robbie I'm going to Beijing'... 'Aye dinny worry you're checked through'. Not a clue. Got through security and noticed my baggage tag only said as far as Hong Kong so I had to go see BA staff and they had to find my bag and retag it but cos it had already gone through the system, I had to check at each destination to make sure my bag was registered with their computers.
The flight to Hong Kong was quicker than we expected. Tried to sleep but the seats were rubbish - we were wishing we had the bed type ones in business class but we had to slum it in economy and no chance of upgrade!
All the way to Beijing I annoyed Gail about my bag and I did a wee jig when it arrived alongside Gails at Beijing airport. Got through immigration eventually and met our driver. It was 10pm by the time we arrived at the Chongwenmen hotel.
Our room is on 14th floor overlooking Beijing hospital and it is modern, clean and nicer than we expected. Didnt bother to unpack as we'll be living out of a bag for the next few weeks.
