Hey Guys,
Sam here finishing telling u about san Fran.
So, Monday we went to the Academy of Science which was good, it was a planetarium, aquarium and rainforest all under one roof. With a bit of natural history thrown in for good measure. All pretty cool really. You could go up on the roof and it was a garden with flowers and grass, so it looked pretty and has a green purpose. Hehe. The planetarium was reall, really good! it was a giant domed screen which u sat under in seats that laid you back so you were almost horizontal. The film was called fragile planet and was a journey out of teh planetarium, around our planet and then off into the furthest reaches of our galaxy and solar system! It was very weird for a start as you felt you were flying and hovering over teh roof of the planetarium and then we blasted off to look at Mars and venus to see why they weren't habitable. Basically Earth is just pretty special and amazing. Then we looked further afield for habitable planets but no such luck, one or two might, might have the stuff to support some kind of life but they would take far too long to get there, it takes light about a million years so we wouldn't make it in time. Sorry folks. Anyway....we did that and then the rainforest which was hilarious. Amy had a very persistant butterfly after her. She didn't squash it tho but did so some arm wafting. We saw penguins being fed and we saw an albino aligator. All good!
Tuesday: We moved to Halcyon Hotel fot a bit of space n a chill out. All nice, we had a little mini kitchen in our room to keep us entertained. We went to Town Hall first and saw a protest which was amusing, I'll show you my favourite placard ever when I get back. Lol. Then we went to the Museum of Modern Art, which was good too! saw some good pieces and some that we couldn't make sense of standing on our heads. I also was a little disappointed as Georgia O'Keeffe was meant to be there but her exhibit didn't open for a few days, gutted as I really like her! After this we headed outside to sit in the Yerba Buena Gardens n soak up a little San Fran sun. Nice.
Weds: We walked to the Ferry Building which is a large indoor/ organic market. I had anice ice cream, I didn't go for the chocolate and jalapeno flavour though, call me unadventurous I know. Then we walked to Levi Plaza and played in the big water feature. Then on to Filbert's Steps. there's a fair few but it was well worth it to get the view from teh top (and there were parrotts in the trees and pretty gardens to look at too). However view was marred slightly by fog obscuring bridge. Ho hum. Coit Tower was at the top and so we looked at the murals painted inside there. We couldn't go up to the top as the lift was out of order and they don't let you climb t' stairs. Went out for dinner this night, Mexican. Was nice but not enough to go to loads of detail here.
Thursday we flew to LA! Next blog will be headed (originally) Los Angeles...enjoy!! xx
