A 'relaxed but no time to ourselves' day as we head towards our cruise ship back in Vancouver. First an early breakfast and then onto the coach for the ferry crossing from Sidney over to Tsawwassen at Vancouver's Southern end. Some people are leaving the tour and we say our goodbyes before bussing right into the ship terminal to go through security, Canadian customs and of all things USA customs before boarding the ship. Impressions of the Volendam are very positive as we are met by a friendly crew and sit down to lunch. Our cabin is very comfortable with plenty of room to unpack - and not have to live out of our suitcases. It is also nice to know people who have been on the tour with us already. The ship leaves on time in the late afternoon and we head to the top so we can try and touch the underside of the Lion's Gate bridge as we head north out of the port of Vancouver. The next day is 'at sea' but Bill is happy as being on the inside passage the ocean is very calm. Later in the day we see plenty of whales, some quite close to the ship, but then we came across what must have been a feeding area and we see many many humpbacks and orcas, and dolphins that are just drawn to the ship so they can play, leaping out of the water with great enthusiasm. Everyone was just enthralled with the sight.
