We have just had three days on the beautiful islands of Los Roques - 45 min flight in an 8 seater plane this time (my stomach didn't like that much). Only one is inhabitated and the rest are stunning deserted white sand, turquoise water islands. I've never been anywhere like it and I'm not sure there are many places like it in the world. We paid for three nights at a posada (B&B) where they feed you and then every day drop you on a beach with two chairs, an umbrella and a cool box with your essential cervezas (oh, and water). Lunch arrived by boat, nothing luxurious but yummy fish and rice. True paradise. I won't go on as I imagine January blues have set in for most of you so I don't want to be too annoying! I think you get the picture though!!!
That said though, it wasn't without its logistical headaches - we had a different room every night and it stank outside our place - the scenery made up for these though.
One thing that did often ruin the view was a big Venezulan arse! They are obssessed with thong bikinis here and are not the smallest of people! I know the Brits can be pear shaped but trust me ladies, we are tiny compared to hear! What a b**** I am but hey, they are big! Refreshing though for women to not be so hung up about their bodies as we are in the UK.
Changing the subject completely, without speaking basic Spanish, I cant see Venezuela is doable! As one guy said to us "you are very brave coming to Venezuela without speaking Spanish" I think he was being polite, "stupid" is probably more apt a word! We managed to get by though and we met some lovely people again who spoke a bit of English, combined with my Spanish we almost had a conversation!
8 hours to kill in Caracas airport now before catching a flight to Buenos Aires tonight and our next country.
