Hi all, we are still here in BA and having a great time. I have been trying to convince G to write another blog but its "a girls thing!" apparently so you will have to put up with me again!
We've been busy the last few days - got some clothes (ate), went out to Tigre and the delta (ate), wandered around the city and docklands (ate), went to San Telmo market (ate), visited the Pampas (ate) and have been out for dinner every night and drank lovely Argentinian wines! Oh yes and went to a Tango show (didn't eat, drank!)
As you might have worked out, over indulgence has been the name of the game here, in fact we have both had enough of eating now - I will never have enough of wine!
For the first time ever, I saw Gordon beaten by a plate of food last night!
You really don't feel like you're in a South American city here, it's very clean and safe, although with about 40% of the populatiom of BA below the poverty line, it very much is South American.
On Friday we caught the train out to the classy northern suburbs to a town called Tigre where we took a boat round the delta there, and had lunch by the riverside. We were very pleased with ourselves as we did it independently and nearly all in Espanol!
Today we went the easy way and booked a tour out to San Antonio de Areco in gaucho land. Lovely lazy town where they still honour the siesta! Funny to see so many Irish names in the church - huge migration there in the late 1800's. Then we went to El Ombu estancia for lunch and horse riding. Very beautiful and quiet way of life. The gauchos are incredibly skilled horseman. We had a huge traditional BBQ for lunch which was delicious but we couldn't eat again tonight!
The rain caught up with us yesterday though, and in true Becky style, there was a huge storm as we walked round San Telmo sunday market. We took shelter in a restaurant but gave up after two hours and headed home (getting soaked on the way). Shame as the market was great.
Its been lovely having a base for this week and this hotel/studio is probably going to be the nicest place we stay, so we will be sad to leave, but Patagonia's glaciers should make up for it. Will make the most of our last day tomorrow before leaving the warm sun behind us. x

Elaine Well done on the Spnaish mis amigos. Sounds like you are going to be rolling to Patagonia. Where are the pictures of Gordon horseriding? How did they get his a hat to fit? Most amusing. Miss you x
