Its time to leave the US of A and head north to Vancouver. We had booked the greyhound bus to take us over the border so we had an early start to get to the bus terminal to collect our tickets and board the bus. It took about 2 hours to get from Seattle to Canada and crossing the border on a bus is certainly an experience. You arrive at the border and the driver takes all the bags off the bus and puts them in the terminal for you to claim, you then join a queue and wait your turn with your passport to pass through imigration. You answer a couple of questions and then get your stamp in your passport and get back on the bus. The big drawback being that you cant leave until everyone on the bus has passed so in our case there were 2 people who couldnt get through so we had to wait about 30 minutes for imigration to clear them for entry to Canada.
We arrive in Vancouver without any other hitches and get dropped of downtown. It takes us a few minutes to find a map and get our bearings before we head to the skytrain station to get out of the centre. Our hotel was in china town about 15 minutes on the skytrain and then it was about a 15 minute walk from the station to the hotel. The plan is to stay 1 night in Vancouver and then head east to the national parks for a week before returning to Vancouver for a few days at the end of our stay. We checked in and were pretty hungry as it was dinner time so we decided being in china town it would be rude not to have chinese food! I ordered a chicken curry and mike ordered some chicken and lemon dish. We collected the food and took it back to he hotel to eat along with some very expensive beer and a bottle of wine. On opening the food i felt there was something wrong with the order, mikes food was in a box and looked ok however mine was in a bowl and looked very strange. To cut a long story short the only chicken in the bowl were the bones, skin and some of the insides of the chicken including something that in my opinion looked like the sphincter of the chicken it looked like something from fear factor, fu**ing disgusting. I was horrified and could never in a million year have eaten it there was nothing edible in that bowl so it went straight in the bin and i had a chocolate bar for my tea. With me firmly off chinese food for the forseeable future we spent the evening on the computer booking up hotels for the rest of our stay in Canada.
