Here we are on our last night at the Kim Ngan hotel in Nha Trang!
On arrival in Nha Trang, some biker dudes told us that they were our pickup for our pre-booked stay at Kim Ngan... only to find out that they weren't, and they took us to 'Kim's Hotel' and tried to charge us 10 USD. JOG ON MATE! Luckily, the right hotel was only down the road and it is lovely. Our room is quite big and has 2 double beds, and the balcony is the size of another room! It is awesome as we've been able to chill out on there and I've also been able to do handwashing (that may sound boring to you but it is amazing to us!) Although the fabric wash is called 'Downy', which makes me chuckle every time I use it!
The staff are lovely too, although James has some hate towards one of the ladies as she charged 7USD for his phonecall home which is very expensive, seeing as it was only a few minutes long! (If anyone has Whatsapp, Skype or Viber, please msg us so we don't have to pay to call, haha!) The hotel is in a great location, literally a 5 minute walk to the beach which is beautiful, and close to restaurants and a few bars too. There is a club called the Sailing Club on the beach which looks really busy and good, but the prices are expensive for drinks so we've not bothered going there, plus an entrance fee. Not a good place for travellers on a tight budget!
We've had most of our meals in the little restaurant over the road as it's really cheap and delicious, my favourite dish there is the stir fry beef & vegetables - makes my mouth water thinking about it! James loved the curry, noodle soup chilli chicken. The service has been a bit shoddy recently since the dude of the place has been serving, the woman was much better, but you don't really care about that, haha!
We met some nice people in the Oasis Bar, which offers really cheap drinks which are right up our street! We bought a big bottle of rum the other day from the supermarket which cost approx 3GBP!!! We smashed most of it on our balcony then walked down to Oasis, and spoke to a lovely couple from Hull, 2 Swedish guys that we met in Halong Bay and another guy (Dutch I think???) and had a good laugh! James has some awful photographic evidence of our drunken state afterwards as we ate bread & laughing cow cheese on the balcony... they will be posted soon :-/
Yesterday we went to the Mud Baths, where we got sprayed with mineral water, bathed in hot mineral water, soaked in mineral mud and swam in warm mineral water pools - my face has never felt so soft! It was good fun and a nice day out (as you can see from the photos, the place was stunning).
Little things we might forget so I better jot down - the best jelly sweets ever which cost about 20p. Chicken noodle soup & vegetables - incrediblly tastey, incredibly cheap! Vietnamese kids unattended on the beach look up to no good and will 97% steal your belongings when you're in the sea. THERE IS A REAL, TRADITIONAL STEAK & RIBS HOUSE WHERE THE OWNER IS FROM MEMPHIS, AND PROMISES THAT THESE WILL BE THE BEST RIBS OF OUR LIFE! This is in capitals because, for those of you that know me well, ribs are my favourite meat and I am very, very excited to be trying this place tonight. We'll be sure to update with our rating of the food soon and if it's less than 10/10 I will be thoroughly disappointed!
Moquitos, what can I say about these little b*****s? 9 bites on one ankle, 5 on the other, several up my legs, one on my arms & one on my stomach - I last counted a grand total of 23. They are not fun, I can tell you that for sure! We just got some new repellant and some cream to put on the bites, although for once in his life, James isn't covered in them!
As far as the weather goes, it's amazing! Very hot but with a lovely cool breeze, cool evenings, loads of sun so no complaints here! Only one lot of sunburn in the 2.5 weeks that we've been gone, so it's pretty good going.
We are getting a bus to Dalat tomorrow early in the morning so will head off for an early night no doubt (we had one last night too, as I was hungover and James didn't feel too clever either!) I have called home today and spoken to Mum, so feel a lot better now and ready for the next few weeks ahead of us.
Hope you're all well at home - keep posting your comments and Whatsapp/email/Skype/Viber where possible, as Facebook isn't accessible again!
Much love xxx
P.S - we saw a monkey last night outside a restaurant, on a lead (which I didn't like much as I'm not sure how well he is treated) but he was absolutely beautiful and wanted to take him home! Check out the pic xxx
