The last few days spent in Nha Trang were good - there's a few decent bars about and the food there was the nuts; following on from Nikkie's update, the ribs were without a doubt the best ribs we've ever had.... can't praise that place enough!! And to top it off, it was only 6 quid! We got the bus from Nha Trang to Dalat which took about 5 hours and, as usual, there's no chance of getting any sleep or relaxing because the tosser behind the wheel constantly beeps his horn and smashes through speed bumps without slowing down. Cheers.
Dalat is without a doubt the best place we have been for day trips; you can do trekking, canyoning, and the Easy Riders bike tours. We chose to do the Canyoning! This involves trekking through the jungle and abseiling down waterfalls, and floating down the river (natural water slide included). The 1st wall was 14m and it was dry, the 2nd 30m involving lots of water and the 3rd (known as the Washng Machine) is again about 30m. Also you jump off of a waterfall into the water bellow, which is where Nikkie somehow managed to bellyflop into the water, splitting her life jacket!! One minute she was there, and the next she was falling into the water tummy first! This will remain one of the most memorable images ever!! It was very painful for her though, but finds it funny now. We booked this trip through our hotel (Peace Hotel 2) and it was only us 2 and another couple which were a proper good laugh To be fair, they made the trip even better! I managed to complete all the waterfalls and loved it! Now onto Nikkie.........
Probably Nikkie's biggest fears are heights and white water. Nix managed the first one no problems; abseiled down a cliff landing into waist high water. On the second one I can honestly say I've never seen her so scared in my life. The instructor called her over, clipped her in a let her begin.. she started to slowly move her way down, legs shaking like a s***ting dog! At the point of total commitment she froze and her legs wouldn't move any further... after a few minutes of standing there at the top she knew there was no way she could do it. Shaken and upset she came back up to the top. The third waterfall.. No chance. To be completely honest it was far too dangerous for her. I have to say I was very impressed how much she had managed to do and no one can knock someone who tries to over come their fears.
In the evening after the days trip we went up to some trippy bar where they dished out free shots of vodka and the locals played the guitar all night (was called the Easy Riders bar, the ones who offer the bike tours). They were all really jolly and p****d, clearly up for a good time. One bloke on the guitar looked Mexican, was proper funny.
We're now coming pretty much to the end of our time in Vietnam next and our last stop is Saigon (Ho Chi Minh City) where we have just arrived.
I've had enough of writting now so I'm off to go to the bar. Will update soon!
Ciao

Wa Aww bless you, Wick! I'm not sure I'd have even managed the first one! Huge amount of respect to you xx
Paul "The One Man Show" Harris Well done to you both, especially Nikkie. I gotta say I'd be scared to do that too, I don't know if I would have done it either from the sound of it. The pics look like ones you'd see in magazine, that action shot of James up there looks professional. The camera was a good choice!
