We arrived at Sihanoukville in the evening and checked in to a lovely hotel with a pool, and at a reasonable $18! The room was good, the bar area was really chilled out with lots of much needed fans and a pool table. The food = good! We had heard that the nightlife here was supposed to be good, so the three of us headed out to the bars to see what was around. One thing that caught out attention was Utopia, due to the loud music and looking quite busy! We had a good laugh as we decided to get beer towers (yes, I can drink beer now!) and play some drinking games! The bar also had a pool which was very tempting due to the heat, but it was nice to be dressed for once! A nice couple called Tom & Jody came to sit with us, and soon enough they were joining in the games. We were having a great time, and decided to head to the beach where there were more bars and there was a 'Full Moon Party' going on!
We got to the beach and it was quite busy, and we bumped into Viktor & Martin who we met at the Halong Bay boat trip in Vietnam. They were pretty drunk and having a good time, and had a pot of UV paint which we used to cover ourselves! Me more than most but I'm just an eccentric girl! We had lots of random people coming and sitting with us which was funny, however one guy - not so nice. I had painted myself ridiculously for fun, and he came up to James and Tom to say 'has that girl got any idea how ridiculous she looks?' I didn't leave it at that and went to find him and gave him a few home truths but hey, he was the ridiculous one for being one of the only people not to join in!
It was a messy night and me & James got in about 5am - needless to say, the midday lay in was more than needed! We chilled around the pool during the day as it was hot and the pool was the perfect temperature! In the evening... we did a repeat performance and headed to the beach bars. This time, we went the other side of the beach and there were loads more bars! The three of us were drinking cheap beer, doing drinking games again until 2 couples decided to join us. Let's say - they're not our kind of people. The first couple were foreign, nice enough but didn't really talk and didn't really get the rules of the game. The 2nd couple were Northern and the bloke would not shut up about how the Cambodian's in Siem Reap (our next destination) beg, and put their babies in their small child's arms and wait for white people outside of supermarkets and beg/cry for money/milk. OK mate, we got it the first time, but there is reaaaally no need to repeat yourself 8 or 9 times in 5 minutes! He also thinks that the temples will fall down in the next two years, but seeing as Angkor Wat is one of the 7 natural wonders of the world, I don't think anyone would let that happen!!! Ever since this night, we've been able to make a joke out of him so in a strange way, I'm glad we met him(?!?)
The next day, we once again chilled out by the pool and this time Tom & Jodie joined us! We had a nice relaxed day, ready for another heavy night on the drink. Same again please - Utopia, beer tower & drinking games. James was hammered by 9:30 as he had to down 4 pints which was really funny, but we soon caught up. I think I've had my beer quota for life in those 3 nights! Ring of Fire, the Name Game and 21 were the main games of the nights, occasionally throwing in some games where we could shout stuff (always good).
We checked out the next day as we felt we had stayed enough (there's only so much you can take of groundhog day, even if it is fun!) and went on a boat trip to a beautiful island called Koh Rong. The boat trip took about 3 hours and for some reason, they don't seem to think a plank or steps is a good idea to get on and off of the boat, so it was a mission for some of us with short legs! Randomly, there was a monkey, 2 chickens and 2 sharks on board. Now, I think to myself 'why', but now I think 'why not!?'
Koh Rong was stunning - bright white sand, light blue sea and little wooden bungalows to stay in. This cost us $20pp, which was worth every penny. The sea was literally 15m from our door, so we spent plenty of time in the sea and relaxing in the world's most comfortable chairs whilst catching some rays. It was a mega chilled out day - no alcohol, nice food, plenty of rest. Just what we needed. It was almost something out of a film! The bedtime was not so nice, as it was very, very hot and stuffy! There was also a storm which kept us awake, and I was glad to get up at 9am just to get some air. 1 night in this place was perfect, so we checked out the next day, got the boat trip home and luckily managed to get the overnight bus the same night to Siam Reap.
We are now in Siam Reap and will update in a couple of days with our adventures!

Paul "The Potato Counter" Harris I love this entry, and I love the new blog layout. Sounds like you've met some good ones and some total tossers so far. I would loved to have seen you have a go at the boring t*** who said you looked stupid. As you know, if I'd have been there I'd have taken the painting thing too far as well as I do like to be very noticed any time there's a dress-up thing going on. Have fun you crazy fools, love you!
