Day 132, 133 - Lorne - Saturday 25th, Sunday 26th February 2012
We got up breakfast with everyone including Ben, Gillian and there lovely kids Lachlan and Phoebe (they had arrived the night before whilst we were out looking for glow-worms!). After a breakfast of good old peanut butter on toast and also, on Bens advice, peanut butter with strawberry jam (it was pretty nice surprisingly), we headed down to the beach, all except Gillian as baby Phoebe needed a feed. We had a swim, played in the waves and built sandcastle (that looked more like sand blobs than castles!). After the morning and early afternoon at the beach we headed back to the house for a classic Aussie BBQ from chef Ben and plenty of red wine and beers. Once all the food and wine was gone we walked down to the pier to watch the locals fishing, we even saw them catch a squid!! Back to the house and bed.
Our plans of getting up for an early morning swim were cancelled when we looked at the window to see clouds threatening rain. Instead we had a leisurely breakfast with everyone and chilled most of the day. In the afternoon, the boys plus Lesley sat down for a session of poker. Ben, who had come with his own poker set, completely cleared up and within an hour had literally all of the chips!! Whilst Ben was clearing up on the table, the cockatoos were clearing up the bread we'd left for them on the balcony! We all had a go at feeding them - an overconfident Adam even got his finger bitten!!
In the evening we all went to the local pub for a farewell last dinner together, on the way we stopped via the pier and saw some seals off in the ocean! The dinner was lovely and it was a great way to end our time with our Australian family and Lesley and Stuart - tomorrow we head back to Melbourne for a day before heading to NZ!
