Day 72 -Manley - Tuesday 27th December 2011
We met Danny & Nikki at Circular Quay, which is the quay where the harbour bridge faces the opera house. As we arrived I spotted some Aussies having a go at a guy who was handing out leaflets about getting rid of President Obama, and stopping world war 3. It started getting heated and ended with loads of swearing, leaflets scattered everywhere and the Aussies throwing his camera off the pier, then the police arriving… oh the drama!! That done we all caught the ferry to Manly beach which took about half an hour with some lovely views along the way (and I don't just mean bikinis that were on the beach!!). Once there we found a walking tour called the "Spit Bridge to Manly walk" so we caught a bus to Spit Bridge to start our 12km walk back to Manly. As we got off the bus it was really sunny so I asked Soph to pass me my £120 Ray-ban sunglasses that Soph had bought for me. She said that I had them, which I replied that I'd given them to her? And that's when I realise that they were on the back of the bus which was now long gone! Anyway the walk was excellent; I think Clive, Lin and the Surrey Strollers would have been proud! Along the way we saw some wild water dragon lizards which are about 2 foot long and have a dark brown and red green skin, and wild kookaburras! The steep incline and the 12km walk took its toll, so at the end we got some well-deserved fish and chips and a 6 pack of beers and sat on Manly beach watching the surfer dudes! We walked back to the ferry stop and on the way got a double decker ice cream cone with 100's and 1000's sprinkled on top and extra chocolate! Lose weight whilst travelling, Rosebud said to me…. We'll see!!
