Day 195 - The Hoover Dam, Nevada - Saturday 28th April 2012
We slept in till the alarm woke us up at 10am and its fair to say that we felt like death! Three days of drinking, late nights and truck loads of greasy food has not agreed with our bodies. We dragged ourselves out of bed, packed, checked out and headed straight to some more food at the Harrah's lunch buffet! It's impossible to be healthy in America - I would be fifty stone if I lived in the states.
After stuffing ourselves stupid we wandered around for a bit and checked out the Venetian hotel; we walked around the Italian styled streets and watched the Gondola's with their singing boatmen and woman. I think the Venetian might just be my favourite hotel in Vegas (baby) - not Ad's though, he loves every hotel as much as the next, I think he is just obsessed with Vegas (baby).
We picked up the car and our bags and cruised up and down the strip for an hour checking out all of the sights and hotels before starting our drive to the Hoover Dam.
It didn't take us long to get to the Hoover Dam (even though the speed limits are ridiculous on the US roads - 30 mph for a dual carriageway in the middle of the desert is madness!). Once there we parked up in the expensive car park ($7), walked around for about ten minutes before deciding the view of the Dam from the opposite bridge might be better! So out came the car and we headed for the bridge. The view from there was indeed much better! Now don't get me wrong, it's a pretty impressive feat of engineering but we were both a bit underwhelmed - perhaps the hangover didn't help!
With the Dam done we headed to the nearby town of Boulder City and checked into a cute little motel for the night - we were dead to the world by 9pm!!
