Day 196 - The Grand Canyon & Williams town, Arizona - Sunday 29th April 2012
Ouch, we still feel rough - are we really having a three day hangover from Vegas?! I'm now refusing to say baby after Vegas!
We woke late again, packed up and started our five hour drive to the south rim of the Grand Canyon. Come 3pm we arrived and couldn't have asked for better weather - clear blue skies and bright sunshine. We walked up towards Mather point and was greeted by an awe inspiring view of the Canyon - it really is quite Grand and for a moment took our breath away. It reminded us a little of some of the scenery in Jordan and also a little bit of the Blue Mountains in Sydney but on a much grander scale - suppose that's why it's called the GRAND Canyon! We spent a couple of hours walking along the rim admiring the scenery, taking lots of pictures and spotting the huge Condor birds nesting along the rocks. We then wandered around the visitor centre and spotted the most gorgeous British Bulldog who we played with for a bit and took pictures of - the owner must have thought we were mad!
Come dusk we decided we were hungry and so drove over to the little village on the rim and went to the Arizona Rooms for some dinner - it was lovely eating our food overlooking the canyon rim.
With sunset done and the Canyon seen we drove back to Williams town and stayed the night in a little motel.
