OK. There's been a slight change of plan. Cyclone Ellie knocked our sailing trip into a cocked hat... not only that, but we heard that Airlee Beach was about to be cut off by flood water so we legged it south!! We must have been amongst the last to get away - swollen creeks churning inches below bridges, inundated fields as far as the eye could see, the waters of which were beginning to lap at the edge of the road. It was a scary drive - although there were various Aussie blokes treating it as an opportunity and stopping to fish off the side of the road! (hoping the saltwater crocs wouldn't get them) Anyway - we made it to south of Mackay for the night, but it's STILL raining and the waters are still rising!!!
