So we've been in Paihia just over a week now and are having a great time. We celebrated Grace's birthday by going on a boat trip to try and swim with dolphins. The trip was amazing and we saw two pods of dolphins (common and bottlenose). The bottlenose came right to the front of the boat where we were sitting on the bow and they kept blowing water right in our faces! Unfortunately we couldn't swim with them because they had juveniles with them and thems the rules out here! It didn't really matter though because we got to go snorkelling with massive shoals of bright blue fish and got to lie on a secluded island for an hour. Back on the boat I told the Captain it was Grace's birthday so she got a shout out and a free mini bottle of champers!!woo! Grace went boom netting whilst I took the photos.
After the trip we went to the quiz at Saltys bar after an awesome Veggie burger and wedges treat! We came 4th but still won an hours free internet and paintballing! We are going back this week to see if we can win a t-shirt!!
Apart from the boat trip we've pretty much been sat on the beach all day because the weather has been good and it's only 200m away from our hostel. Hostel is nice and staff are friendly. We didn't realise when our flight to Fiji was so we've had a few extra days here before going back to Auckland on Wednesday.
