Nadeane & Dean's Trip
Hi Everyone,
3 weeks into our south america expedition and we have finally left peru and arrived in bolivia. We thought peru was cheap but bolivia is even more so. Unfortunately we dont have much room in our luggage!
As we drove into the capital La Paz we were confronted with the awesome view of the city situated in a valley and surrounded by mountains. La Paz is the highest capital city in the world at 3600 metres and you can really feel it as you walk around the city. In fact, people that live here have more red blood cells and larger lungs to help them cope with the reduced oxygen.
We did a city tour today where we saw the rich side of the city and the poor side. Obviously we are staying in the poor side, where a double room with a shower will set you back a ridiculous $8 a night!
WE really like La Paz though, there are a lot of contrasts walking arond the streets and it is much bigger and more developed than we thought. We will put some photos up tomorrow, we forgot the camera today.
See ya,
Nadeane & Dean
