Hello everyone. Not sure where I left on my last blog entry but we are half way through Cambodia right now and its been a good grin so far, a lot more cultural and I've had a temple full of temples so far. After Ko Chang we got a bus to Chantaburi, stayed hte night there to split the journey up and then came up to the vorder crossing for Cambodia up near Poi Pet. The place was a dump and we saw povery at its worst here, we had planned on staying a night here but after seing ehat it was like decided to jus do anoher 4 hours in a taqxi to Siem Reap. What a taxi ride it was aswell, 4 hours like a rollercoaster along the worst road I've ever seen or been on in my life, it was brutalllll!!!. Boys got stung out of 50 quid at the border by changing their $$ into Real (Cambodian money). Me Mr sensible though only changed about 10 quid as I smelt a scam as surely there would be ATM's in Siem Reap even though the gimps on the border said there were none.
Anyway, so onto Siem Reap. We had a good couple of day leading up to the New Year. Got to go out and see Angkor Wat for a full day, really impressive temples and defo worth going to see and learn about. Had an amazing New Yeras Eve at a street party in Siem Reap with about 3,000 locals and tourists getting right amongst it. Partied hard with these Irish girls who we may meet up with down in Sihanoukville when we are back in our prime and on the beach chillin all day and partying the night through till 6 in da mornin.
Had a nice recovery day in bed after New Years Eve and then set off to where we are now down in Phom Phen, the capital of Cambodia. Its a crazt city and the traffic and the wacky races is defo worse than Bangkok. No one knows what lane they are driving in and we are flying about 4 on a tuk tuk in the middle of it. Tom Tom our driver the past two days is a ledge though and looks after the boys and gives a tuk tuk toot if anyone is in our way. Pretty brutal seeing the S-21 school/museum where half the population were taken during the Pol Pot regime and tortured and held untill they were killed. We then went to the killing fields which were not as bad as I originally thought they would be. Apart from all the skulls piled up on top of each other at the memorial temple the mas graves were still open but did not see any skulls or bones sticking out of the ground like we were told about. Apparently bodies rise though so sometimes in the year you see that which I'm glad we missed. So a pretty emotional day today with all that but of out for a few beers tonight and to laught at Chris amd Mydens eggheads after they got thier heads shaved, chin up hey boys, more of the laids for me and Nicky.
Really enjoying th experience so far though and defo have caught the travel bug aswell as a nasty cold the past week or so. Off to Sihanoukville tomoz for a week back on the beach and back to what we know and love.
Peace out and I'll be back in touch in a week or so.
