Hello again everyone. Last time I left you I think I was leaving Phom Phen, the capital of Cambodia and heading down to the South Coast and the beach resort of Sihanouk Ville. Well it was pretty sweet as most beach resorts are. Well nice beach and ocean, managed to stay for free in the loft area of one of the ebach bars right off the sand so rolling out of bed straight onto the beach....met Tej and Lou these cool Ozzir girls so just hung out with them in the day and partied through the night as we usually do on the beach.
Loved Sihanouk Ville and even got offered a job there at a beach bar and a part ownership in the future with land to build mty own shack!!< something to fall back on hey!!. Left the beachafter a good 4/5 days staying for free and a few movies watched at the awsome movie theatre on the beach for $2 a film, alllrriittee!!
We then moved onto Kampot and saw the Bokor Hill Station at the top of Bokor Mountain after a brutal drive for 2 hours through the jungle in the back of a pick up truck hanging on for dear life. Pretty cool to see all the sites though and met Nadia, girlfrom Italy who is amazing. Defo going to meet up with her further down the line in Vietnam. Also went and saw some caves and took a boat trip over to Rabbit Island which was very remote and absolute paradise. Just imagine cows and pigs running wild and into your hut on the beach and just everyone so chill with not a care in the world. Defo could have spent a couple of days there.
Then there was the travelling into Vietnam. We've been lucky so far landingon our feet with most travel apart from the taxi ride to Siem Reap from the Thailand/Cambodia border. Well easy enough getting to the border from Kampot, lovely taxi ride for 1hr 1/2. Crossed the border fine with no trouble. Not to shabby with a moped for a $1 to the first town in Vietnam called Hat Tien. Had a nice lunch there but then had our first encounter of the Vietnamese just blantantly riping you off and thinking you are thick as pig s*** and richer than even your own wildest dreams. The palce actually sorted us for a moped to the bus station though as we needed to get to Rach gia to get the ferry across to Phu Quoc Island where we are right now off the south coast of Vietnam. Worst bus ever, just imagine chickens running wild on a minibus, a cows head out of the window and its arse in our faces and half a house of bamboo on the roof falling off on each stop off. It was like an SWT bus to Swansea Quadrant without all the cultural differnces of South East Asia. Great experience though and I just dug my head into my Mr Nice novel and the supposed 1 hour trip flew in 3 1/2hrs!!!
Stayed the night in Rach Gia and got some much needed R & R after a full day of travelling. Again got stiched up with the wrong boat to PhuQuoc and it was more like a cross between a submarine and an aeroplane with the shapreof the seating and limited space, again Mr Nice came to my rescue for the 3hour trip. Had lil Vietnamese lad taking pics of me and Nicky on a camera phone for a full 2 hours aswell so that gave us a bit of entertainment to pass time.
Sowe are on a supposed paradise island in the South of Vietnam that was highly recommended to us but its not all that it was made out to be. Bit gutted in a way as no islands to see really now tillwe get back to Thailand and down to Full Moon Party, cvanny wait. Loads of beach resorts to check out in Vietnam though up the coast and then water tubing and getting drunk in Laos aswell as the Gibbens experience of living in treehouses and using ziplines to get around and to different bars.
Alllllllllllllrrriittttteeeeee!!!!, its been emotional and the bus wasn't that bad, minus the cow it was all the truth, well the chickens were in a cage!
One love. Dickie.xx
