Our Travels
13 January 2004
Arrived late afternoon and had to battle through the traffic with a bus full of other backpackers to Khao San Road - nobody was quite sure where to get off so it was complete guess work and follow the person in front! FINALLY got to our hotel once we had semi figured out the map with an Aussie called Anna. We dumped our stuff and headed straight to Khao San Road for some Thai food and some local thai beer 'Sanghi' which we have developed quite a taste for! then just wandered round the stalls and bought a few bits to try our bartering skills with the locals!

Had a yummy breccie in our hotel and then headed towards the Grand Palace, got seconded by a local who told us it was shut because it was 'Thai time' so we jumped on a tuk tuk and headed round some of the Buddha sights in Bankok - tuk tuks are really cool and zip in and out of all the cars hooting eachother! We were on an off this tuk tuk for 2 hours!
Then headed to the Grand Palace and walked round grounds etc really lovely - beautiful temples etc
Had a much needed nap to prepare ourselves for another Khao San experience in the evening - we found a great Irish bar with some cheesy music - although they repeated the cheeky girls FAR too many times! Got chatting to a random German and then preceeded to wander the streets again.

Had an argument with a tuk tuk guy who didn't take us to the station like we wanted him to, they always take you to tour places to try and get commission, we weren'ty havin any of it so we gave him his money and got out in a strop in the middle of nowhere we recognised!!!! eek - no probs managed to get to the station everntually by taxi. We think its avoid avoid avoid on the tuk tuk front from now on! Also we brought some Thai pants which are very cool in both senses of the word!
Now where sitting here e-mailing you lot so we'll catch ya later and when we figure out how to put the piccies on, we will!
