I'm writing this on the train back from Bratislava. We had a pretty good day there. We start3d by getting thoroughly lost. then asked a random guy that turned out to be British how to get to the old town. He sent us on the tram and we eventually got there. We then took in the castle and its museums... It was very interesring for an odd reason. It was brand new except for a few parts that included a 12 century towerwhich we climbed. It was new as it burnt down in 2011. It was interesting to see whag allvthe decoration wouls have looked like new. The building was the best part as I suspect that the exhibits were all destroyed in the fire. After going through that we had our al fresco lunch on a rampart. And then we took off exploring around town. We looked in a church, at a number of statues and facades, we checked out stores had a cup of coffee, and had some schnitzel before heading back to Vienna, at least finding the train was easier then finding the old town. Overall I think the Bratislava side trip was wrth it , it seems like a nice old mideval city that has not really changedged that. Unlike Vienna that is clearly a 1850-1918 city. I should say there was a clear stam9 from the communists in the form of aoartment blocks and unimaginative government buildings as squares. There was also quite a lot of graffiti in the communist parts. Im actually kind of glad we got lost as we walked through a graffiti run down square between government biildings that was huge maybe the size of half victoria park. As well we came across the parking lot of what I believe was a technical universities graduation., which was interesting to see everyone in thier best clothes. Plus how run down the technical university was. Finally we saw a very imaginative building... An upside down pyramid.
