Thursday 6th December 2018 – We can’t believe it, another early morning with a mosquito buzzing around our ears. It’s also hot and muggy as we’re heading for another 40 degree day, so we spent most of the day around the campsite trying to keep cool.
Later in the afternoon as the weather cooled down to a comfortable level we took the Anxious Bay Clifftop drive that gave lovely panoramic views across the bay.
We drove along the dirt clay road making occasional stops around this beautiful bay. The cliffs had amazing honeycombed formations at its base that in places when the aqua and blue waves receded over the top of these ledges the water looked like effervescing and boiling water until the next wave came crashing of the top.
This drive gave spectacular views of the granite and limestone cliffs with dark coloured sandy beaches and changing coloured water that led around to the town of Elliston. The historic jetty that had been construction with steel pylons screwed directly into the ocean floor using a horse drawn winch. The dry farmland and out across to the outlying island’s.
We headed back to camp and changed into our swimming suits and walked down to the beach and took a refreshing swim in the clear cool water before a dinner of fresh seafood. Yum!
