We wake to a cool wet morning and a forecast of more rain so we decide to move on and head for Eden along the Sapphire coast.
We continue our journey along the Sapphire coast and end up spending the next ten days in Eden that is situated on the edge of Twofold Bay with its warm sapphire water and soft sandy beaches.
During our stay at in this beautiful location we spent our time:
Taking walks along the Lake Curalo Boardwalk that meanders around the lake's shore through melaleuca forest, across a salt marsh before opening out on to the estuary mouth bordered by coloured limestone cliffs, on to a fine sandy beach with its white capped surf crashing along the shore that was great for a swim and bodyboarding.
Drove to Merimbula where we walked around the town, stopped to look at the Pelican statues and strolled along the boardwalk beside Merimbula Lake with its eucalyptus trees, mangrove beds and Sydney Rock Oyster farms.
Visited Merimbula Main Beach with its sweeping sandy beach and blue water, Bar Beach sitting in a small cove sheltered from the wind, Spencer Park Beach with its shallow clear waveless water, Merimbula Wharf with its deep blue water and deep red coloured sandstone cliffs - Merimbula has a tall timber wharf where you can stand taking in the splendid views over to the coastline.
Drove to Pembula that is nestled beside a stunning river mouth bordered by the Ben Boyd national park where we strolled along its lovely sandy beach, rolling waves and azure coloured water.
Visited Severs Beach where we walked along the shore with its deep red coloured rocky outcrops, then wandered up through Ben Boyd National Park that gave spectacular views over the beach, river and bushland.
Relaxing around camp watching the resident kangaroo's playing, shucking fresh oysters for dinner and enjoying our time at this beautiful location.
