After our leisurely day driving through the white hill towns, we approached Seville, our next stop and first test of Matt's ability to drive in a big European city. Thanks to Mom and Dad's GPS navigation system, we thought we'd have no problem getting ourselves into the city where we would drop off the car at the train station. Wrong. As we got off the freeways, our GPS sounded like a robot on crack..telling us left, then right, twisting us into a knot within the narrow streets of Sevilla. It was one of those moments where you have to remind yourself that you are an adult and can take charge. We pulled over, turned off the GPS, tried to piece together the fragments of maps we had in our guide books, and turned on our old-fashioned common sense. After a few minutes making our strategy, Matt had figured out his plan and we were back on the road. Crisis averted...we found the station, dropped off the car, and caught a taxi to our hotel.
After such a busy day, a siesta was very welcome. We finished our evening by walking about the medieval streets of Sevilla at sunset. Brightly painted buildings, Moroccan tiled entryways, and storefronts selling Flamenco dressed and fans were a feast for the eyes.
