After leaving Koh Tao we took an overnight bus up the coast all the way to Bangkok. It was an uncomfortable ride, however it went faster than expected and we got into Bangkok at about 340AM, which was a bit rough. Luckily they dropped us off in a pretty backpacker friendly part of the city, so after walking around a bit we managed to find a hostel and settle down for a few hours sleep.
The next day we went to the Vietnam visa and pretty much spent the entire day there working on and figuring out our game plan for Vietnam and Cambodia. After much debate we decided to not go to Cambodia at this time and save that for later, so that we could get to Ho Chi Minh City (Saigon) and not have to breeze through both. That evening we had some dinner and walked around the area where our hostel was located and it was actually quite a cool spot with lots of shops and restaurants and such.
However, what we did not realize about our hostel was that it was literally in the heart of the bar/club district, and as such the walls of our room were shaking from the multiple stereos within a 10m distance until about 2AM. Needless to say it was not a very restful night. Hopefully in the future we will be able to avoid sleeping in places such as this.
Next up, we head to HCMC, Vietnam. Fingers crossed that our visa's and flights all work out!
