Ok so after leaving Indonesia we decided to swing through Singapore on our way to Cambodia, which turned out to be an excellent decision because we met up with friends Maibritt and Mark, who live in Singapore and were able to host us as well as show us a good time.
We worked with MB in HK and we had met Mark before, and they had offered to host us during our stay in Singapore. MB had just arrived there a few days before us having quit Sylvan and moving to Singapore to be closer to Mark and for a change of pace. We spent the next few days exploring the city with the two of them as well as drinking and hanging out at night. Thurs and Fri night we went out to some delicious food markets and had a ton of amazing food, and then afterwards we went to the bars and did some drinking and hanging out. Highlights include meeting their friend who had been a dive guide for 3 years in SE Asia, smoking a bowl of tobacco from some random strangers and then proceeding to be quite sick for the next 5 mins, and then eating delicious gourmet kebabs at 2AM. Sights during the day were pretty great and highlights would include exploring the Singapore garden, having a drink on top of the Marina Sands Hotel, and walking around downtown. That night we didn't go out drinking but instead grabbed some Japanese food on our way back to their apt and then ate that while playing cards. We didn't have Monopoly Deal (unfortunately) but we did play a pretty complex yet interesting card game called hearts, which was a game Mark had played since he was very young. It was a lot of fun and we played a drinking version. We also played some other drinking games, but after about an hour we were all pretty hammered so Ally went to hit the hay since we had to get up at about 5AM. Mark MB and I stayed up way too late playing hearts, but I did manage to get a few hours of sleep before we had to leave. It was an amazing break to our trip to hang out with good AC and solid working wifi, and was also fun to stay at someone's house and not a hostel. Singapore, although a very expensive city, was definitely a lot of fun and I hope that I make it back at some point in my life.
