Cambodia is the tuk tuk and motorbike capital of the world, these chaps go mad for it! Endless people every second of every day trying to flag you down where ever you walk. Was so funny to finally walk over to one asking for a fare. These chaps are here all day and all night, and normally constantly just got blanked. Got a motorbike taxi to the airport for $3. the airport was really small but nice. I bordered my plane which took me to KL. Mistakenly paid for a real expensive fast train into the city centre for £7, doh! However it did have 4G wifi though lol.
I arrived in KL Sentral… and no that's not a typo lol, and was real exciting in a hustle and bustle central station. I found which metro train to take, and got off at china town where my cheap digs were located. It too a while to find, as the roads didn't seem to match up with my maps, but I eventually found it. China town was ironically overran with Indians, where KL has a really big influence of, including Chinese and Malay which make up the rest. The whole place reminded me of being in India again. The hostel was a real grubby one ran by some Pakistanis. My room stunk of canibas but the whole place had character, and was exciting. I took a mooch around the city, in search for the Petronas towers. You can't exactly not find them, as all you need to do is look at the skyline. They were really impressive and were located in the super cool business distract which was really modern. I then went for a massive walk around the city and decided to check out a few museums some lass in the hostel had recommended. When got there the first one was closed so I didn't bother checking the rest out. Would leave it for tomorrow! Oh and earlier on in the morn I treated myself to Maccy Dee's and the woman who served me tried to rip me off by 40rm when I needed 80rm back!!! Shes a cashier and this is her local currency, the notes are also luminous different colours. It was impossible to make a mistake. She knew what she was doing. She wore an Islamic headscarf and had ALL black eyes off some really freaky contact lenses, which made her look like some real scary extra terrestrial. Was such an odd moment. I eventually got my money, but looking back I should have kicked up more of a fuss and tried to shame her to her boss.
My feet were black by the end of the day, racked up so many miles, and after a long sweaty day in the sun, the die comes out of my flip flops so it honestly looked like I had done a hard days graft down the pit!
Back in the hostel met loads of cool people in the communal area, including one English dude called Felix who serendipitously met some recruitment dude was looking for extras, and he was now earning £80 a day starting in movies lol! Major major money in Asia. If I wasn't leaving the next day I would have definitely got on board.
