Geelong 31st Mar to 28th Apr 2015. We finally arrived in Geelong just in time to take over the reins for Pauleen and Hugh. It was Williams first school holidays and we were in charge. The first day was spent cleaning the van in and out and washing. As Pauleen only works 3 days a week we were not too stressed about how to entertain our 5 year old grandson. We filled our days with lots of games and outings; I even got on the trampoline with Will one day, the one and only time I must admit but it was lots of fun and laughter. We went to the movies twice which Will enjoyed. Shopping was always a favourite outing as Will always had an ulterior motive in mind and I must admit that I am easily swayed so he did get a little spoilt while we were there. The two major shopping centres had lots of activities for the children during the Easter Holidays so there was always something to keep him occupied. All in all we had a great time with Will, he kept us hopping, and Nanna & Poppy were usually pooped by the end of the day. Once Will went back to school we still found plenty to do, Warren was the chief cook and I the bottle washer and laundry maid. On the days that Pauleen worked I would walk William to school and in the afternoons Warren would take the dogs for a walk and walk William home. There's never a dull moment when we are at our daughters house, she is always on the go, and there is never enough hours in the day for her. During our stay we went up to Melbourne by train to the Comedy Festival, we sat through two children's shows, very entertaining I must admit. Will was very vocal in the second show, he and a couple of other kids got really involved in it, and it was so funny. Hugh's twin nephews turned 19 while we were in Geelong; we celebrated with a small family dinner at a lovely restaurant. The twins are so handsome, we have watched them grow from noisy little rug rats into the lovely men they are today. On the third weekend we were in Geelong Pauleen & Hugh went to Portland to celebrate Hugh's parents 50th Wedding Anniversary, the same weekend that Carolyn & Neil arrived in Geelong. They left home 2 weeks after us and were doing a slow caravan trip through central NSW heading to the Great Ocean Road, then central Victoria and back via Sydney to Brisbane. We had a lovely few days with them showing them around down around Queenscliff and then in the arvo we celebrated Carolyn's birthday a little ahead of time at Little Creatures Boutique Brewery (very nice). The last Saturday was spent in Melbourne looking at Caravans. It was a long day and we were all pooped by the end of it. Pauleen & Hugh ended up buying one of the vans that we looked at; they were so excited about it, especially William, and they are itching now to take it away for a weekend. I know that they will have some wonderful times and create some beautiful memories in it. Come Tuesday the 28th April we were all packed again and ready to hit the road. It was a teary goodbye, we were very sad to leave as we enjoyed our month with the family so much especially the special time we had with William, he is growing up into a beautiful well-mannered young boy, we love him so much, he is no longer a baby, where have the last 5 years gone?
