...as in I love it here too much.
OK - I will leave San Juan del Sur given the usual danger of being too Alan Partridge in one place, but I'm taking Cath's advice and heading to an island lake with TWO volcanoes on it. Yes two.
More comedy dog and parrot moments have been vague distractions, but swimming in the surf has been a fine thing too. Today a couple of kids came and joined me. Not sure why - maybe it was the comical sight of a very white, old, overweight gringo that gave them sport. Anyway, they jumped into the same waves I did and beamed away as we came out of each one. Then when I got out so did they. Sport over, but a nice moment.
Anyway, I've made the plans to move on into Costa Rica... finally. Really not too happy about it as I've truly fallen for Nicaragua, but at some point I'll need to get towards Panama in order for the trip to have an end from the right place. Still, I've changed plans and am no longer doing cowboy town (Liberia) and heading for the big city in three days time. By then I'll have needed to make a decision on cloud forests (or something), but I've bought time to continue relaxing - obviously I need it.
Feel free to look a little closely at the picture accompanying this post. See that lifeguard? He's not fixing his chair - he's asleep. Always good to know you're in safe hands.
Later...
There's definitely a satire to be written about young travellers today. It would be a mixture of Nathan Barley, that Chelsea programme and Home and Away. Unfortunately, I'm not the man to write it.
However, I would note that the lovely hotel I'm staying in has been invaded by three American blondes. Any more detail might sound a bit bitter, so I'll leave it there other than to say that when the town was today invaded by day-tripping Nicaraguans it was immeasurably improved. As you might expect.

Gillian Swimming in the surf sounds lovely, but surely you are at least a pink gringo by now? Loved the lifeguard pic.....
